Six “Stars of the Industry” Awards Bestowed

Newport, RI (November 12, 2008) – The Historic Hotel Viking scores a record number of “Stars of the Industry” awards from the Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association. Award winners are Mark Gervais, General Manager, as Hotelier of the Year; Certified Meeting Planner John Harrison as Employee of the Year; Sue O'Donnell, HR Director as Woman of the Year; Banquet Captain, Halley Williams as Employee of the Year; Linda Shoe, Laundry Supervisor, as Employee of the Year; and Dave Smith, Lead Mixologist, as Employee of the Year.
The Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association (RIHTA) “Stars of the Industry” Awards recognizes the outstanding achievements of members of the hospitality, foodservice and tourism industries. Award recipients were chosen not only for their dedication and contributions to their careers, but for their involvement in their local communities.
